The Perfect Fall Weekend

We love fall!  And we took a weekend to really enjoy it.  Picking apples, hiking, and backyard marshmallow roasts.  What could be better?!
Saturday, Nov 2nd
Picking apples at Hartland Farm on our way to Shenandoah

 It was a gorgeous farm

This cow walked toward us with a big "moo" and Jovie got spooked.  For the rest of the day, she periodically mentioned the cow...
In Shenandoah and Dickey Ridge picnic grounds
Picnic!  Don't know where she got the idea to cross her legs like this...

 Excited to go "hikin!"

 Snead Farm
 Falling asleep

Views from Dickey Ridge along the trail - there was a gorgeous overlook on the trail
There was still significant color in the lower elevations

We spent significant time at the overlook, taking pictures and resting
(Can you tell which pictures are not iphone pictures?)

The overlook even had a view of the Shenandoah River, a rarity in the park

Back on the trail!
This is one of our favorite spots in the north section of the trail in fall - a gorgeous, huge stand of yellow trees

Watching the beginnings of a sunset at an overlook along Skyline Drive

 The light was amazing

Family picture at the overlook (with the good camera!)

On Sunday evening, Mike had the brilliant idea to have a fire in our firepit in the backyard and roast some marshmallows.  Jovie LOVED it, and we had lots of fun, too.

 Say, "Marshmallows!"
When we came back into the house, the whole house smelled like the applesauce I was making in the crock pot from the apples we had picked on Saturday.

My heart was so full after this weekend!
