There wasn't anything particularly remarkable about this past weekend, but somehow, that's what made it so great.
On Saturday, we went to Founder's Park in Old Town, Alexandria. It was a beautiful day, and we sat on a blanket in the shade by the river. Jovie played on the blanket and we watched the people go by. Then we took a walk around Old Town.
On Sunday, Jovie went to church for the first time! Here she is in her Sunday best:
She did pretty well for her first time. I think Mike and I were far more paranoid about her noises and fusses than anyone else was disturbed by them.
After church, Jovie and Mike took afternoon naps and I watched football. Then Mike took Jovie in the BOB stroller for a run, and I went on a run, too. Then it was a quiet Sunday evening with lots of playing and cuddles.
It doesn't sound like much, but I realized how the ordinary moments of the weekend were so sweet and wonderful. That's what life really is: lots of little moments that are really easy to miss when you are rushing through life (or just trying to survive with an infant). :) So I wanted to do something that I'm not always so good at: take this time to stop and reflect on those moments and savor them.
