Two Year Old Jovie!

Jovie is two years old!  It's been amazing to notice how she's really been shedding all of the "baby" and is such a little girl now.

She still makes us laugh a lot, and has that great little sense of humor.  She loves to be silly, and her new favorite thing is giving or getting "zerberts".  She now knows when we are going to think something is funny, and she'll giggle and say "I funny." She smiles and laughs all the time, and is full of life and energy.  She gets really excited to do fun things, and has even told me on occasion "I 'cited, Mama!"  Jovie loves to get out and go, especially with her friends.  She loves to be with her friends, and name them as well as their parents.

Speaking of names, she knows her first and last name these days.  It comes out "Jovie Chay-yer".  It's pretty cute.

And that's not the only thing she knows.  She has a great little memory, and knows parts or all of many of her books and will "read" them to me, or will tell us "you missed a page!" when we skip one.   Jovie loves to sing and has lots of songs memorized, and her favorites include the bedtime songs we sing to her: "Jesus Loves Me", "Jesus, All for Jesus", "You are My Sunshine" and "I'm Proud of You."  She also knows almost all the songs on her John Lithgow cd, and especially loves songs with motions to them.

Jovie seems to really love to learn!  She knows her "ABC's" (although "l-m-n-o-p" is questionable), can count to 13, and knows some of her opposites like up/down, in/out, on/off.  She can identify most of the capital letters by sight (and loves to point them out in public on signs!), and several numbers.  Her vocabulary is exploding, and she speaks in sentences a lot, typically 3-5 words long.  Although, she still is working on mastering the correct use of pronouns.  For now, it's super cute when she messes it up.  One of my favorites is that when she wants me to hold her she raises her arms and says "Pick you up".  :)  She is a little parrot and repeats everything we say, it seems.  And, every now and then she picks up a Spanish vocabulary word.

Jovie melts our hearts with her squeezes around our necks, big kisses, and the unprompted "Jovie loves Momma."  She has said that a couple times now (once while we were watching the rain on the porch!) and it is just the BEST!  She often says "thank you" unprompted, and even says "Thank you playing with me, Daddy!"

She's been potty trained (except at nap and night time) for several weeks now, which has been great.  She was pretty easy to train, and has been rocking it!

Jovie seems to run everywhere (including away from me when I ask her to come here), and has learned to jump with both feet off the ground.

She is so fun, and has been such fun to watch learn and grow.  Can't wait to see what this year brings!

Oh Yeah - Stats!

The Actual Birth-day

August 19th, 2013 - Jovie is TWO today!

Mike and I each took some time off today, and we had a great day celebrating Jovie's birthday!

All evening the night before, Mike worked on putting together Jovie's kitchen.  When she woke up, it was set up and ready to go for her!  She loved playing with it, so we spent the morning playing kitchen.  Daddy made special birthday pancakes, which she loved, and then we went to the zoo.

It was a fairly overcast day, and a Monday morning, so we had the whole zoo to ourselves!  Well, not quite, but we've never had such a nice, relaxing time at the zoo.  We all really enjoyed ourselves, and Jovie would just name an animal she wanted to see, and we would go!

After nap time (which was really long), Jovie chose pizza for her birthday dinner, got a leftover cupcake from her party (this time we were able to light the candle since there is no wind in our house like at the park :), and opened the rest of her presents.  We hosted small group that night, so we wrapped it up a bit early, but it was a really, really fun day!

Jovie's 2nd Birthday Party

We've been asking Jovie what she wanted for her birthday party for the past couple months, and every time she has said "tuptates!"  When we ask her what else she wants, she says "friends".  So, Jovie's birthday party was full of cupcakes and friends!

It was a really lovely day for August, and we had the party at Oronoco Bay park.  It was a really fun party, and Jovie had a blast.  She sang "Happy Birthday to Jovie" all the way to the park, during and after her party.
