For Memorial Day, we drove to Shenandoah National Park for my Mother's Day/birthday hike. It was a chilly day, which is totally out of the ordinary for Memorial Day around here, and totally welcome! It was a little drizzly, but made for a lovely day and lovely hike.
We started out in Big Meadows for a little bit, but it started to rain so we went inside, ate lunch and got some ponchos
Here she is, ready to hike! In the backpack and poncho-ed up!
So, Jovie didn't always enjoy being in the pack. So, we would sing ABC's and Jesus Loves Me. Suddenly, she broke out into "Jesus, All for Jesus". I sing that to her every night, but didn't know that she knew it. Brought tears to my eyes!
At the top, we let her get out and stretch her legs.
At the top of Hazel Mtn
We let her walk a little more at the end, too.
At the end of the trail
We went back to Big Meadows, where she had a blast running around!
And rock climbing
These are my favorite days - the three of us at Shenandoah!
