Mom and Dad came for Mother's Day weekend, so Mike and I went to spend a night in Shenandoah. We figured that with me being pregnant (yup!) and us moving to Philly in a couple months, this might be our last chance to do some real hiking in Shenandoah- at least for a long time.
We drove Saturday to the middle of the park. We started by hiking the Hightop Mountain trail, a 3.6 mile lariat trail. It was warm, but nice.
Saw lots of spring wildflowers along the trail
Stopping to cool off a bit in the stream

In the evening, we hiked the easy but lovely Limberlost Trail. It's known for it's wildlife, and we were hoping for bears (we think we heard/saw one way in the distance, but there was no way to be sure.) We did see deer!
Then we checked into our room at the lodge at Skyland. The view from our back porch.

I loved Bearfence Mountain Trail so much this past fall that I wanted to make sure Mike got a chance to experience it.
Panoramic views from Bearfence Mountain
Views from the overlooks along the drive as we headed south. This was our only time hiking in the south district, so we saw a few overlooks that we've never seen before.
Our last trail was the Doyle's River Falls Trail, a 3.3 mile out and back trail.
There were upper and lower falls
Check out how big these falls are compared to me!
I am really glad we got a chance to spend some good time in Shenandoah before moving.
